Just ‘cos you got the power, don’t mean it’s right!
I am letting others’ words speak for us this week.
The four lines quoted above are the chorus from a Motörhead song, Just ‘cos You Got the Power.
It applies to every aspect of our lives, but especially war, when we imagine we can murder tens of thousands of people under the assumption of power.
Each person murdered in war is you, me, our children, our parents, our family, our friends, our neighbours, our fellow global citizens.
Every single one has a name, a life with hopes and dreams.
Each one is a person, equal in value, not a statistic rounded off to the nearest 100…
I invite you to view the attached 50-second video of a young lady called Sham, on YouTube HERE.
Sham is each of us.
Sham is what happens when we allow the assumption of power to override proper leadership.
Sham and millions of others would not happen if the philosophy of people with power was of the Influential Leadership kind.
The Influential Leadership Philosophy is the unconditional acceptance that the quality and value of each life is inseparable from other’s lives, thus establishing leadership’s foundation and purpose.
What a shame on humankind that in the AI Age we still display Stone Age behaviours.
All that has changed over 5,000 years is the technology we use to commit mass murder.
Great power demands profound respect and application of proper leadership.
It is when we have great leverage in our grasp that we also inherit the weight of doing right.
Sham is each of us…
And what about those who murder her? Who are they?
It need not be so if we live the Influential Leadership Philosophy.
